Volunteer Fire Department

911 Fire and Emergency Medical calls bring out Trinidad's Volunteer Fire Department - TVFD. TVFD was established in 1952 and is still all volunteer- staffed. Trinidad has a mutual-aid agreement with The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection - CAL FIRE (http://www.fire.ca.gov/). The departments respond to each other's calls as needed with additional support from other local departments. CAL FIRE maintains a station about a mile from Trinidad on Patricks Point Drive. Firefighters train to the First Responder level for Medical Emergencies, with ambulance service provided by Arcata-Mad River Ambulance.
