Distributing Our Water
From our redwood storage tanks water lines distribute treated water to homes and businesses. Some out-of-city residents, however are served from the line that carries water from the treatment plant to the tanks. These residents may experience a higher chlorine level than customers farther down the line, a problem currently under study.
City workers continually monitor levels in our two redwood water tanks. Rapid decrease in water levels may indicate a serious leak somewhere in the system. Pumping rates and treatment stages may have to be adjusted to maintain levels and quality.
Recent decisions by LAFCO, the Local Agency Formation Commission, have restricted our ability to give some out-of-city residents the water service they had been promised. The City is negotiating with LAFCO to allow us to honor commitments made many years ago to those residents.
